#18: Gondola Ride Stuck In Traffic
The vision of Venice usually involves gliding silently down canals with only the sound of water lapping against the gondola. The reality? A full-on gondola traffic jam, with dozens of boats packed so tightly that romance gets replaced by awkward eye contact and impatient gondoliers trying not to crash oars.

Anyone who’s dreamed of a serene ride under Venetian bridges might not imagine it feeling like rush hour. But with crowds flocking to the canals, it’s sometimes less “floating serenade” and more “floating gridlock.” At least the view remains gorgeous—even if the soundtrack is a chorus of frustrated shouting.
