#33: Eiffel Tower View Blocked
Climbing all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower should guarantee sweeping panoramas of Paris—the Seine winding below, rooftops stretching to the horizon. However, this traveler was greeted with an unbroken wall of fog. The telescope stands ready, but there’s nothing to see but a blank gray canvas.

It’s a risk every sightseer takes with tall landmarks: weather doesn’t always cooperate. The higher the view, the more likely clouds and mist steal the payoff. While disappointing at the time, the irony makes for a great story later—proof that sometimes the journey is the only view you get.
