7-Eleven
How Many Stores Closing: 645
Current Value of the Business: $27.3 billion* market cap
The Slurpee giant is getting a major 2026 shake-up. According to CBS News, 7-Eleven plans to close 645 North American stores during its fiscal year 2026, which runs from March 1, 2026, through February 28, 2027. Some locations may not disappear completely, but instead be converted into wholesale fuel sites.

This isn’t a simple collapse story, though. 7-Eleven is trying to move away from weaker convenience-store locations and lean harder into larger, food-focused stores with stronger sales. The company still has a massive footprint, but the closure plan shows even one of America’s most familiar grab-and-go chains is trimming stores that no longer fit.
