Giant Eagle
How Many Stores Closing: About 2
Current Value of the Business: $10 billion+* estimated annual revenue
Giant Eagle’s 2026 closures have been centered in Ohio. One Columbus store closed in April after about 20 years, and a Lancaster location is expected to shut down during summer 2026 after more than 15 years in operation.

The regional grocer has framed these as difficult store-performance decisions, not a retreat from the market. Giant Eagle still operates more than 200 Giant Eagle and Market District locations across several states, and Forbes continues to list it among America’s major private companies. The chain also sold its GetGo business and has been reinvesting in its core supermarket operations.
