The Most Unforgettable Stops Along Route 66

September 2, 2026 by Regina Clarke

#27: Meadow Gold Sign

Tulsa’s Meadow Gold Sign dates to 1934, when the Claude Neon company created it for the Beatrice Creamery Company. Originally installed near 11th Street and Lewis Avenue, the glowing dairy sign became one of the city’s great Route 66 visuals and was later saved, moved, and restored.

Its significance is all about preservation and pride. When the original building faced demolition, local supporters worked to rescue the sign and return its glow to Route 66. Today, it is worth seeing as a bright symbol of Tulsa’s highway heritage, American advertising history, and the beauty of saving what still matters.
