The Story Behind the 70s Sitcom Hit Laverne & Shirley

In 2020, actor David Lander died at the age of 73 after living for decades with multiple sclerosis. Lander had revealed his diagnosis publicly in the late 1990s after keeping the condition private for many years while continuing to work in television and voice acting.

Best known for playing Squiggy, one half of the eccentric duo Lenny and Squiggy, Lander remained closely associated with the show throughout his career. Later in life he became an advocate for multiple sclerosis awareness, using his experience to help raise public understanding of the disease.
