#24: Using Alcohol as a Sleep Aid
A drink before bed can seem relaxing, especially when sleep is already difficult. The problem is that alcohol may make someone feel drowsy at first, but it can disturb sleep later in the night. It may also increase trips to the bathroom, worsen balance, or interact with medications.

A better bedtime routine is calmer and more consistent. Try a regular sleep schedule, a dark room, less late caffeine, quiet reading, or relaxing music. If sleep problems continue, it is worth discussing them with a doctor. Poor sleep is common, but alcohol usually creates more problems than it solves.
