#31: Keeping Old Prescriptions “Just in Case”
Old prescriptions can feel useful to keep around, especially if they worked once before. But medications can expire, dosage needs can change, and pills may no longer be safe with a person’s current health conditions or newer prescriptions. What helped years ago may cause problems today.

A safer habit is to review medications regularly and dispose of old prescriptions properly. Many pharmacies or local programs offer safe take-back options. Keep an updated medication list and ask a pharmacist before taking anything from the back of the cabinet. “Just in case” is not worth the risk.
